Christ has risen!

Join with us as we celebrate the resurrection of Jesus Christ and the new life that comes by believing in him.

Opening Prayer

We give you thanks, great God,
for the hope we have in Jesus,
who died but is risen and rules over all.
We praise you for his presence with us.
Because he lives, we look for eternal life,
knowing that nothing past, present, or yet to come can separate us from your great love
made known in Jesus Christ, our Lord. Amen.
(TWS N1.4.1)

Scripture Reading - Luke 24:1-35

Offering

Please continue to give to the church as we continue to fulfill the mission of the church.

Scripture Reading - Colossians 3:1-4

Resurrection Prayer

O Christ, in your resurrection
the heavens and the earth rejoice. Alleluia!

By your resurrection you broke open the gates of hell and destroyed sin and death.
Keep us victorious over sin.

By your resurrection you raised the dead and brought us from death to life.
Guide us in the way of eternal life.

By your resurrection you confounded your guards and executioners and filled the disciples with joy.
Give us joy in your service.

By your resurrection you proclaimed good news to the women and apostles and brought salvation to the whole world.
Direct our lives as your new creation.

[Take time to observe silence in prayer]

God of mercy,
we no longer look for Jesus among the dead,
for he is alive and has become the Lord of life.
From the waters of death you raise us with him and renew your gift of life within us.
Increase in our minds and hearts
the risen life we share with Christ,
and help us to grow as your people
toward the fullness of eternal life with you, through Christ, our Lord,
who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God, now and forever.
Amen.

Prayer

God of our salvation,
you have restored us to life,
you have brought us back again into your love
by the triumphant death and resurrection of Christ:
continue to heal us
as we go to live and work
in the power of your Spirit,
to your praise and glory. Amen.
(TWS N9.1.5)

Benediction

Now to him who is able to do far more abundantly than all that we ask or think, according to the power at work within us, to him be glory in the church and in Christ Jesus throughout all generations, forever and ever. Amen
- Ephesians 3:20–21

Question 50
Q: What does Christ’s resurrection mean for us?
A:Christ triumphed over sin and death so that all who trust in him are raised to new life in this world and to everlasting life in the world to come.

Memory Verse:

1 Thessalonians 4:13–14
But we do not want you to be uninformed, brothers, about those who are asleep, that you may not grieve as others do who have no hope. For since we believe that Jesus died and rose again, even so, through Jesus, God will bring with him those who have fallen asleep.

Lesson Worksheet

Prayer:

Resurrecting God, make us mindful that death is not the end for us. Save us from the judgment we deserve, and make us faithful to implore others to flee from the wrath to come. We look in hope to the joy that will be ours when, saved from that wrath through the merits of Christ, we will be clothed with resurrected bodies to reign on a renewed earth. Amen.
