Dear Taber EFC family, Welcome to February 2023! As this is the month in which we traditionally give some attention to Valentine’s, I want to take the opportunity to focus a bit on the subject of love and what this means in our relationship to the Lord as well as to one another—in marriage and family, and also the church. In the worship service this Sunday at 10:30, I look forward to speaking to you about love as romance, in a message called, Young Love from the Song of Solomon and Revelation. Pastor Brett and team will lead in musical worship, and Kids church will have an extended time of worship and teaching on courage and heroes of faith as seen in the Old Testament. It seems appropriate that, as we begin February, we should have another fellowship potluck meal this Sunday. What a great way to share in love for one another in the church! Everyone is welcome to stay even if they don’t bring anything (like me!). But for those who can, please bring a main dish and then either a dessert (last names A – M) or salad. (N – Z). Thanks, in advance to Laurie Lowry and her team for all the work in making arrangements for this fellowship meal. What a blessing! For this service and meal, we are hoping everyone will be willing to pick up a name tag when they come into the church. Of course, this will be helpful for me, but maybe also for everyone to get to know one another better. In fact, at the potluck, consider sitting with someone you may not know that well. Let’s share the love… Other important ministries happening this weekend include an Elders Board ½ day retreat on Saturday morning. We will share and pray together and look at ministry priorities at the church as we begin the transition journey. Please pray for us. Also, this weekend, there is a retreat at SABC for all junior-high youth from the area. Pray much for the leaders and youth at this gathering to hear God’s voice and to decide to follow Him. I won’t be around too long this weekend as Carolyn and I had previously committed to a visit to friends in Texas this next week. I am driving in to Taber on Friday this week and then leaving soon after our staff meting on Monday morning. Plans are for me to be back for about a week on, and after, the weekend of February 18th and 19th. While we’re away, Pastor Brett, Tracy, and/the elders will be on hand to lead and serve in needs as they arise. Wherever you are this weekend, thank God for the love He has shown to us in so many ways, and think about ways in which you can share it with others. As possible, I look forward to seeing many of you on Sunday. Thanks for your prayers, Pastor Ed |
Sunday, February 5
Please join us for a potluck after the service on Sunday, February 5. For this service and meal, we are hoping everyone will be willing to pick up a name tag when they come into the church. This will be helpful for Pastor Ed and also for everyone to get to know one another better. In fact, at the potluck, consider sitting with someone you may not know that well. Let’s share the love… Hope to see you all this Sunday! For more infomation visit:
