It is that wonderful time of year again when we can BBQ often and spend time outdoors on the deck! I hope you and your family/neighbours are able to do just that these days. And it’s only the beginning of the season... I’m looking forward to the outdoor worship service at 10:30 and picnic at Taber Legion Park on June 11th. I know we’re praying for rain, but also that there would be nice weather on that Sunday so we can enjoy the fun, food, and fellowship being planned for that day. See instructions in this newsletter or in the bulletin on what to bring (besides your lawn chair). In this Sunday’s Worship Service at 10:30, one of our elders, Ben Dyck, will be speaking on The Mark of a Disciple, from John 15:1-14. Matt Reed and his team will be leading worship and Jon Gartly of Southern Alberta Bible Camp will be sharing a little about how we can support that good ministry in prayer and finances this summer. After his presentation, children will be dismissed for Kids Church. As you may know, prayer is one of the stated values of our church. Engagement in prayer ministry through the church is also, often, a reflection of the spiritual vitality of the church. But the church also gathers for prayer because God’s Word speaks often of the importance of prayer. Furthermore, we have so many needs for which we require God’s help! So it is that everyone is invited to a special prayer gathering at the church this Sunday evening at 6:30. If possible, please join us in praying especially for the upcoming important congregational meetings. At the Congregational meeting on Wednesday, June 14th, the Assessment Team is planning to present its report. Also, new membership applicants will be introduced and a recommendation from the deacons concerning the roof repair will be considered. The Congregational meeting on Monday, June 19th, will be fully devoted to the presentation and discussion of amendments to the church Constitution. Both of these meetings will be at 7:00 on those evenings. With the consideration of the Assessment Report, as well as Constitutional amendments, we are entering a very important time in this transition year for Taber EFC. In these meetings, we are seeking to lay the ground for the pastoral search and finding of the church’s next lead pastor. Together, we look forward to seeing God bring the church into a new time of greater fruitfulness. I hope many of you will be able to attend the Worship Service this Sunday morning and the Prayer Gathering on Sunday evening. God bless your weekend, wherever it finds you. Pastor Ed |
