Update from Pastor Ed
Y’all know that Taber has a reputation all over the province and beyond of producing the sweetest corn in the country. We look forward to getting a larger supply this year since I am now associated with Taber! Right now, I’m at home in Calgary where we are entertaining summer vacation friends. But I plan to be back for the Services on August 13 and 20th and the week between – hopefully also to pick up some sweet corn at a good price! On Sunday, Elders Board chair Ben Matthews, announced that Tracy Lecuyer resigned her role of church Office Administrator. Partially to answer questions about this development, the Board of Elders is inviting members to come to an Informational Meeting on Wednesday, August 16 at 7:00 pm.. This meeting will also be an opportunity to update the members about hiring a new Office Administrator, and to inform the members about where we are in the transition process – especially with regard to the search for the church’s next pastor. Please plan to join us for this time of fellowship, information, and prayer. More information will be posted soon about finding someone to fill the role of Office Administrator. Those interested should watch for an announcement from the Elders Board soon. While we wait for this outcome, Pastor Brett will do his best to do double duty in also taking care of needs that come to the office otherwise. If he is out, he will post a message on the door of when he will be back. This Sunday’s Worship Service at 10:30 will include another guest speaker – a young man known to the church from past fellowship and ministry – Micah Motz. Micah believes the Lord is calling him into pastoral ministry and is preparing accordingly. He will be speaking on Three Responses to the Life-Changing Love of Christ, based on 2 Corinthians 5:14-21. Marty Senneker and his team will lead in worship through song. When I return in August, we are looking forward to having a mini-retreat for all those involved in ministry leadership this fall. It will be a time to review the vision of the church and to plan for fall ministry. Please remember to come together for prayer at 9:00 on Sunday morning. We need God’s help so much as we trust Him together for His leading these days. Have a blessed weekend, wherever this finds you. And plan to join us online if you cannot attend this weekend. TEFC Scholarship Fund
The TEFC Scholarship is now open. The TEFC Scholarship fund has been established for the purpose of encouraging TEFC young people to pursue discipleship studies. The primary goal of this fund is not to simply dispense money, but to aid those where finances would be a barrier from attending such a program This fund will award successful applicants with a scholarship of up to $5000.00. If the fund does not have enough funds to award each successful applicant with $5000.00 the approved applicants will be given the amount in the fund dispersed equally between them. This fund is an approved designated fund of the Taber E-Free Church which means all donations will be specifically donated to this fund and that no money will come out of the operating budget for the church. If you are interested in applying please reach out to the office. - office@taberefc.ca The Fund is also open for donations. We have an individual who has committed to matching donations in this fund up to $5000.00 until the end of August. If you are interested in donating to this fund please designate your donation to the TEFC Scholarship Fund. If you have any questions please reach out to the office. |
