Update from Pastor Ed
It sounds like this is a BIG WEEKEND in Taber due to the celebration of its annual Cornfest. I feel badly that I/we can’t be in Taber to enjoy this extravaganza, billed as the largest free family festival in Western Canada. I see the festival includes things like a fun run, chilli cook-off, a classic car show and shine as well as corn-eating! I’m sure people will be coming from far and near to enjoy the festival – probably many of your friends and family as well. One of the most exciting features of the weekend is the Sunday morning 10:30 Community Worship Service put on by the Ministerial Association. It offers an opportunity for Christians from all Gospel denominations to get together for worship and fellowship – a wonderful testimony to the Gospel in the midst of the Festival!. This year, Brian Kyuper of Taber’s Christian Reformed Church will be sharing the message from God’s Word. I hope it will be possible for many from TEFC to join in this time together. There will still be a Prayer Time at 9 am at the church this Sunday. Please consider coming out for this time of prayer together for the church and the community service. In anticipation of the Membership Meeting on Sunday September 10th you will be receiving notice about the Agenda, along with the Board of Elders nominations for the pastoral search team and nominating committee. Please be in prayer for God’s direction in these important church leadership development processes. Sunday, September 10th, will also be the start of our fall ministry schedule. Please consider how you might be involved in service through the church this fall. Contact the office or pastor Brett if you have an interest in any particular area of service at TEFC. We will have more information concerning the fall ministry schedule next Sunday. In other news, I hear that some of our students will be leaving soon for Unviersity and Bible College – Amanda Wiebe to the U of A, Taylor Hutzul to the U of S, and Alex Wind to Columbia Bible College in Abbotsford. Three more, Suzannah Loewen, Becky Thiessen, and Matthias Warkentin are planning to head off to a Capernwray discipleship training school in Austria. Let’s pray for these young people, that they experience good Christian fellowship and education as they head off to school. As you know, a Scholarship Fund to help those pursing discipleship training is now open to receive tax-dedctible donations. We are pleased that Jenn Matthews has come to serve as the new Office Administrator. To serve the church best, her office hours will be from 9:00am to 3:00 pm from Monday to Friday. Feel free to come by or call (403-223-2214) if you have questions about ministry matters at TEFC. As many of you enjoy Cornfest in Taber this weekend, we will be enjoying some of that Taber sweet corn with our extended family here in Calgary. God bless your weekend, Pastor Ed |

TEFC Scholarship Fund
The TEFC Scholarship is now open. The TEFC Scholarship fund has been established for the purpose of encouraging TEFC young people to pursue discipleship studies. The primary goal of this fund is not to simply dispense money, but to aid those where finances would be a barrier from attending such a program This fund will award successful applicants with a scholarship of up to $5000.00. If the fund does not have enough funds to award each successful applicant with $5000.00 the approved applicants will be given the amount in the fund dispersed equally between them. This fund is an approved designated fund of the Taber E-Free Church which means all donations will be specifically donated to this fund and that no money will come out of the operating budget for the church. If you are interested in applying please reach out to the office. - office@taberefc.ca The Fund is also open for donations. We have an individual who has committed to matching donations in this fund up to $5000.00 until the end of August. If you are interested in donating to this fund please designate your donation to the TEFC Scholarship Fund. If you have any questions please reach out to the office. |
