Update from Pastor Ed
Thanks to arrangements through the Elders Board as well as the special favour of Abe and Anna Klassen of Taber, I have been blessed to have wonderful accommodation while working onsite at the church each month. I have enjoyed, at different times, the provision of an Airbnb on 43rd Avenue and also a house on 43rd St near the Hospital. As time allows, I have loved walking around their respective neighbourhoods such as this one near the Hospital. Taber certainly does have some beautiful parks and landscapes! The colourful fountain in this park is a beautiful reminder of the continuous outpouring of God’s goodness and blessing on our world, and especially on our lives in Christ. As Ephesians 1:3 puts it, Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ who has blessed us in the heavenly realms with every spiritual blessing in Christ.. Or as Romans 8:32 puts it, He who did not spare his own Son, but gave him up for us all—how will He not also, along with him, graciously give us all things? Now that’s something to really think about! As we end the summer holiday season this weekend and enter the fall period of ministry at Taber EFC, it’s good to remind ourselves that we have been blessed abundantly in Christ so that we have all that we need for the journey ahead. This weekend is an opportunity to take some time for reflection and preparation. Let’s look to the One who gave us His all to provide all that we need for the journey ahead—both in our personal lives and in the church. In this long weekend Sunday’s Worship Service at 10:30am, Pastor Brett and his team will lead us in musical worship, and Ron Gartly will speak from John 13:34, 35 on How Then Shall We Be Known? Ben Dyck will host the service and lead in prayer, and Ken Reinke will share a story for the kids. For those who are unable to attend the Service on Sunday (because, like us, they are away), the Service will be available online. Since we know that prayer is essential to progress in God’s work, please consider coming for the Prayer Meeting at 9:00am on Sunday in the church board room. Next Sunday, Septebmer 10th, is one of the most important Sundays in the annual church calendar because, in many ways, it’s the start of the church year. Many ministries get underway and begin that Sunday – including Kids Church, during the sermon part of the Service. September 10th, will also be an important Sunday because of the potluck and Congregational Meeting after the service. Besides the fellowship opportunity, it will be a time for members to vote on the affirmation of the Search Team as well as the Nominating Committee members. Even before next Sunday, on Friday, September 8, all the ladies are invited to a Fall BBQ at the home of Sheryl Regitnig at 6:00 pm. If you have questions about this event, please call Sheryl (403-223-1890) or the church office (403-223-2214). I hope and pray that this will be a most enjoyable September long weekend for you before the busy fall season begins. Pastor Ed |

TEFC Scholarship Fund Update
The TEFC Scholarship Committee has recieved a couple applications and the committee is in the process of reviewing those applicants. The TEFC Scholarship fund has also begun to fill with donations as well. We wanted to send out a reminder that we have a matching donation of $5000.00 for this first $5000.00 that is donated. We still need a some more donations to get up to that full matching amount. If you are interested in donating please designate your donation to the TEFC Scholarship Fund. The TEFC Scholarship fund has been established for the purpose of encouraging TEFC young people to pursue discipleship studies. The primary goal of this fund is not to simply dispense money, but to aid those where finances would be a barrier from attending such a program This fund will award successful applicants with a scholarship of up to $5000.00. If the fund does not have enough funds to award each successful applicant with $5000.00 the approved applicants will be given the amount in the fund dispersed equally between them. This fund is an approved designated fund of the Taber E-Free Church which means all donations will be specifically donated to this fund and that no money will come out of the operating budget for the church. If you are interested in applying please reach out to the office. - office@taberefc.ca If you have any questions please reach out to the office. |
