Update from Pastor Ed
Most of you, I’m sure, have seen this large communication tower on Highway 519 near Granum. No doubt, it is a vital link for communication in southern Alberta that has also carried many of our own messages in various forms to one another and others. Thank God for technology that enables us to communicate good things (like the Gospel and related matters) quickly and easily these days. One of the values we have tried to emphasize during this transition time is good communication. And it is especially important at this time of year as we begin our fall ministries at TEFC. As you will see from notices in this Newsletter, this weekend is the start of many ministries including the Women’s BBQ at Regitnig’s on Friday evening, Kids Church in the Service this Sunday, and Youth Ministry start-up next Friday, September 15th. Our primary means of communication are 1) this weekly newsletter 2) the Website 3) the Sunday Service bulletin 4) the Sunday morning Service and 5) Congregational Meetings like the one happening this Sunday morning after the Service around 12:30pm. This meeting will be important because it will include updates on the roof project and our church’s finances, as well as opportunity for members to vote on affirming the individuals put forward by the Elders Board for the Pastoral Search Team and the Nominating Committee. Pastor Brett and I will also provide an update on the Vision and Ministry direction of the church this fall and into the new year. Communication is actually the theme of this Sunday morning’s Worship Service at 10:30am as well. In a message called, When God Speaks, from Psalm 29 and other scriptures, I want to speak to the church about the tremendous significance of God’s communication with us – especially through the Bible. In this Service, Children and Youth ministry teams will be introduced and dedicated, and kids (Pre-K to Grade 5) will be dismissed for Kids Church before the message. Lyndon and Naomi Klassen will be leading worship in song. Once again, the Service will also be available online. September marks the beginning of studies for children, youth, and young adults in various venues. We need to be much in prayer for these children and young people as they embark on this journey. Pray also for those who will be attending discipleship training through Capernwray in Austria – Becky Thiessen, Susannah Loewen, and Matthias Warkentin, also for Alex Wind at Columbia Bible College in Abbotsford. It’s exciting to be entering this fall season of ministry at TEFC--with all of its opportunities and possibilities! I look forward to being with you this next week and to seeing what God will do as we proceed together in faith, and in love for one another. In anticipation of all of these things, please consider joining us in the Board Room for prayer this Sunday at 9:00am. God bless this important September weekend, wherever it finds you, Pastor Ed |

Kids Church & Youth
Kids Church
We are excited to welcome a new team to lead Kids Church this year!
Ken Reinke, Steph VanHaarst and Angelina Martens have come together to run this important ministry.
They, along with their team of teachers and helpers, will be leading kids Pre-K to Grade 5.
This year our pre-k and kidergaden class will be focusing on the characters of the old and new testement. Through understanding these characters and stories they will get the big picture of God's redemptive plan in scripure as well as see how God works through people in mighty ways to complete his purposes. This is a foundational class that helps lead into the curriculum for older elementary kids.
Grades 1-5 this year will spend the entire year learning about the bible. Children will embrace the Bible as God's inspired and authoritative message for everyone. The year of kids church will be broken into four parts under this theme.
1. How we got the Bible. - Children will see the way God has preserved His Word—intact and authoritative throughout centuries. Kids will follow the path from the Bible's inspiration through its translation into other languages. They'll discover the wondrous qualities of God's Word!
2. Why we got the Bible. - Children will see God’s Word transform individuals and cultures. Kids will visit six continents and meet twelve Christians who responded to God’s great concern for those who did not have the Bible. They’ll experience the power and purpose of Holy Scripture!
3. What does the Bible teach me. - Children will explore the Ten Commandments God gave His people at Mount Sinai. Kids will discover that God's Laws show His love and allow us to express our love to Him. They'll be able to see and know the joy and comfort of obeying God's Word!
4. How does the Bible guide me. - Children will acknowledge that the Bible is as relevant today as when it was first written. Kids will recognize the Bible's importance as a guidebook for all they do. They'll exercise genuine faith and observe the wonders God has in store for them in His Word!
Pray for our kids church leaders, Ken, Angelina and Steph as well as all of our kids church teachers and helpers. Please also pray for kids as they are part of this ministry, that God would illuminate the truth of scripture in the hearts of the kids that hear at, and that they will come to have growing relationships in the Lord.
Youth
Our desire is that teens would know and experience the love of Jesus through relationship, time in the Word and serving others.
Youth will run every Friday this year, with specific Small Group and Worship nights twice a month.
During Small Group time they will be using a study called Disciples, that breaks down the basics of walking with Jesus everyday.
Please pray for these nights in particular as the leaders endeavour to help the teens learn how amazing it is to meet with God regularly, on their own and with eachother.
Pray also for the Leadership Team: Ryan Robak, Jenn Matthews, Josh Dyck and Kaleb Olfert.
