Update from Pastor Ed
There were many hi-lights for me in the past week at Taber EFC. But one of the events I especially enjoyed, was attending the Youth Kick-off on Friday evening. Close to fifty kids (that also included some from the CRC) really got into the fun and games (bouncy castle, nine square, basketball shoot, ping-pong, video games, crafts and floor hockey). But, as you see in the photo, the kids also gathered for some edifying entertainment from local rapper, Aypayne, some great worship led by Mat Reed, and a talk by Ryan about trusting the will of God to direct our lives. This year, youth are meeting every Friday evening at 7:00. Each month, two of those Fridays will be devoted to worship and small group time together. Pray for the leadership team – Jenn Matthews, Ryan Robak, Josh Dyck, and Kaleb Olfert – to lead our youth into deeper relationship with Christ and one another. It’s exciting to see various ministries get underway this fall toward the fulfillment of our vision to build a disciple-making community around the Gospel. Our goal in this is seeking to help all who God brings to us, to KNOW the Lord especially through what happens in our Sunday Services, to GROW through participation in a Life Group or other kind of discipling ministry, and to GO – in being equipped in service to extend Christ’s kingdom.. Leadership, as we know, is an important and exciting part of what it means for a church to move forward in the work of the Gospel. Recently, a couple of teams were appointed to help in finding good leadership for the church. The Nominating Committee has met and is sending a ballot to all the members of the church to gather their nominations for people to serve as elders, deacons, and an assistant treasurer. Please prayerfully consider whom you think might serve best in these roles and send it back to the office, for the Committee to consider, by October 15th. The Pastoral Search Team has also met and prepared a profile for the next lead pastor that reflects the personality and skill priorities expressed by the church family. Please pray much about this need and if you know of someone whom you think could be a fit, please refer them to the profile which is posted on our website under “Resources.” In the Worship Service at 10:30 this Sunday, Rob Oudman will be speaking from 2 Peter 3:9 on the subject of our personal purpose and relevance. The title of his message is, What in the World Am I Here For? He will also update the congregation on his and Leslee’s mission in Nicaragua. Lyndon and Naomi Klassen will be leading worship and there will be Kids Church for children Pre K to Grade 5. Carolyn and I are looking forward to joining everyone for worship this Sunday – online (in our case)! God bless your first fall weekend of 2023 with much joy and blessing, Pastor Ed |

Water Run 2023October 7, 2023 - Medicine Hat The Turkana people are an unreached, nomadic tribe living in the desert of northwestern Kenya. There are half a million people living in extreme conditions. They live in a dry and barren land with daytime temperatures reaching 50 degrees Celsius. They lack food, water, medicine, and education. The women walk up to 50 kms a day to carry 20 litres of contaminated water back for their families. The children exist on a diet of boiled maise flour and water, most of them eating only once every 2 days. 80% of all hospitalizations are due to waterborne diseases. Life expectancy is approximately 40 years. They call themselves the forgotten people...But they are not forgotten! With your help, we are bringing clean water to the Turkana. Join us this year and let's continue the amazing work that is happening in Kenya.
