Elders Report
For my elders report I wanted to share that we as Elders got together last week Thursday (Nov 19) for our monthly meeting. We had an awesome meeting. We focused on the fact that there is a general disconnectedness and what kind of action plan we could have to change this. For starters we agreed to include more personal prayer into the Sunday morning worship services. If you have a personal request for prayer, please email or phone them into the church. They will also be relayed in the prayer section in the weekly newsletter. Those who are sick will also receive a call from one of the pastors. We also received a request from Gary and Dianne Noble for their membership to be reinstated. The ballot will have a spot for members to affirm this action. Blessings, Vic Klassen

Lead Pastor
Preaching/Teaching In an effort to continue furthering the vision of discipleship and following Jesus (Know, Grow, Go), we will start a series in the Gospel of John in January 2021. John's Gospel is compelling for discipleship because of the portraits that we see of Jesus, helping us to know him more personally, and identify the ways that we can submit to his character and leading. Some of the highlights to note are:
I look forward to all that we will discover together as we journey through John's gospel together. Pastoral Care Leadership Newsletters EFCC Prairie District My transfer of ordination has also been completed and I now have official standing as an ordained minister in the Evangelical Free Church of Canada. Continuing Study --- My family and I are grateful for the opportunity to serve the congegation and for the support that we receive from you. We feel blessed by the congregation and the relationships that have grown in our time here. We have been with you for nearly three years and, as the Lord wills, look forward to serving with you for many more to come. Thank you. |
Associate Pastor Report
Youth: Since our last meeting in September our youth ministry has been meeting every Friday to hold events at the church. These events have been put on hold due to the newest covid restrictions and we are now meeting every other Friday for youth services which include some short screen trivia games, worship and a message. We will continue to run this way until restrictions change in our area. Youth bible studies continue to meet on Tuesday’s each week. Junior High and Senior high are going through advent videos done by the bible project. Life Groups: Most life groups had been meeting up until the latest covid restrictions had come out. Some life groups are continuing to meet in the church building which is an option for any interested life groups. Some life group have chosen to postpone meeting until after the holidays and to wait and see what new restrictions come. As we enter into the new year, I plan to give life groups and life group leaders more focus and support. Kids Ministry: We are still unable to run Awana which has been a sad reality for us this fall, we hope to be able to launch this program as soon as it’s safe to do so. Kids church has not been running and we hope to launch in January if covid restrictions allow it. A team of people is coming together to help with the coordinating of kids ministry, they will be tasked with helping kids ministry run effectively and safely. Other: I continue to work with Pastor Keith on various leadership things including the newsletter and pulpit supply. I have also taken on more worship leading over the last few months as we have less leaders for that ministry right now. I was also tasked by the Elder board to explore the forming of a new missions committee. Taber EFC has a rich mission’s history, and we would like to see our involvement and support of missions continue to be an important part of Taber EFC. The missions board would take an active role in the communicating and support of missionaries and missions’ organizations both local and international. This board will also coordinate with the staff to see regular missions’ moments on Sundays and to have missions’ opportunities communicated through the church (ex. church bulletin, church newsletter). If you are passionate about missions and would be interested in serving on the mission’s board, please contact me. We were also planning to take part in the annual foodbank clients dinner put on by the Taber ministerial. This unfortunately has been cancelled this year due to covid. I would encourage those who are interested to continue to support the foodbank as this will be a busier Christmas season for them as they support the needy in our community. As always its an honor to serve at Taber EFC, Heather and I look forward to celebrating the Christmas season with you and to the things the Lord has for the Church in 2021. |
Treasurer Report
Financial report – year to date: Our donations are down $40,000 from 2020 to 2019; but our expenses are also down $25,000. In total, our net loss of $47,000 is only $15,000 worse than 2019. In past years, we tend to make up this shortfall in December and trust that the same will continue for 2020. We began the year with a cash position of $141,000 and are at $94,000 currently. God has been faithful during a trying 2020 and we end the year with optimism that He will continue to build His church in 2021. Thank you for your ongoing giving during this difficult time!
