This guide helps us to pray through specific directions so that we are expressing more of our hearts to God and developing renewed avenues of prayer.

Adoration

Make a joyful shout to God, all the earth! Sing the glory of His name; Make His praise glorious. Say to God, “How awesome are Your works! Through the greatness of Your power, your enemies submit themselves to You. All the earth will worship You and sing praises to You; They will sing praise to Your name.” (Psalm 66:1–4) mouth is filled with Your praise,And with Your glory all day long. (Psalm 71:8) Pause to express your thoughts of praise and worship.

Confession

Before his downfall the heart of a man is haughty, but humility comes before honor. (Proverbs 18:12) Ask the Spirit to search your heart and reveal any areas of unconfessed sin. Acknowledge these to the Lord and thank Him for His forgiveness.

Renewal

May I not turn my heart away from the Lord, the God of Israel, but keep what the Lord has commanded. (1 Kings 11:9–10) Like Hezekiah, may I do what is good and right and true before the Lord my God by seeking Him with all my heart. (2 Chronicles 31:20–21)  Pause to add your own prayers for personal renewal.

Petition

Preserve me, O God, for I take refuge in You. I said to the Lord, “You are my Lord; I have no goodness apart from You.” (Psalm 16:1–2)

Spiritual Insight

Understanding and insight into the word. Understanding my identity in Christ. Who I am. Where I came from. Where I am going. Understanding God’s purpose for my life. My activities for this day. Special concerns

Intercession

We must all attain to unity of the faith and of the knowledge of the Son of God to a mature man, to the measure of the stature of the fullness of Christ, so that we will no longer be infants, being blown and carried around by every wind of doctrine, by the cunning and craftiness of men in their deceitful scheming; but speaking the truth in love, we must grow up in all things into Him who is the Head, that is, Christ. (Ephesians 4:13–15)

Believers

Personal friends. Those in ministry. Those who are oppressed and in need.  Special concerns

Affirmation

I have come to Mount Zion, to the heavenly Jerusalem, the city of the living God, to myriads of angels, and to the assembly and church of the firstborn, who are enrolled in heaven. I have come to God, the Judge of all men, to the spirits of righteous men made perfect, to Jesus the mediator of a new covenant, and to the sprinkled blood that speaks better things than the blood of Abel. (Hebrews 12:22–24) He who overcomes will be clothed in white garments, and You will not blot out his name from the book of life, but You will confess his name before Your Father and before His angels. (Revelation 3:5)  Pause to reflect upon these biblical affirmations.

Thanksgiving

God set forth Christ to be a propitiation through faith in His blood. He did this to demonstrate His righteousness, because in His forbearance.  He passed over the sins committed beforehand; He did it to demonstrate His righteousness at the present time, that He might be just and the justifier of those who have faith in Jesus. Where, then, is boasting? It is excluded. By what law? Of works? No, but by a law of faith. For we maintain that a man is justified by faith apart from works of the law. (Romans 3:25–28)  Having been justified by faith, I have peace with God through the Lord Jesus Christ, through whom I have gained access by faith into this grace in which I stand; and I rejoice in the hope of the glory of God. (Romans 5:1–2)  Pause to offer your own expressions of thanksgiving.

Closing Prayer

Your word is a lamp to my feet, and a light to my path. I have inclined my heart to perform your statutes to the very end. (Psalm 119:105, 112)
