Dear Taber EFC family, As you know by now, I like to post a relevant photo with each of my newsletters. Traveling around Taber last Sunday in the late afternoon, I saw this typical local scene that reminded me of God’s artwork! Of course, with the snowstorm and cold weather of this week, the landscape has changed quite dramatically again. I hope this photo warms your soul, and reminds you that spring, and all that comes with it, are not far behind. It's been good to spend most of this week in Taber. Over the weekend, because the Airbnb where I usually stay on 43rd Ave. was otherwise occupied, I enjoyed the company and warm hospitality of Peter and Sheryl Regitnig. Though I very much appreciate the Airbnb, one of my loves in this work, as opportunity avails, is getting to know people more personally in their homes. The longer I’m here, the more I’m coming to know who’s who and what their role is in the life of Taber EFC. But I know there are still a lot of people whom I need to “meet and greet.” Several events this week have enabled me to connect with people while also enjoying some prayer together, fellowship, and worship. The Prayer Meeting led by John Willms last Monday, was a blessing in more ways than one—sharing together, worshipping, praying for personal needs, and for the church in this transition time. Though the group that came together on Wednesday night for the Ash Wednesday worship service was small (31), those of us who came appreciated the ministry of being led to reflect on our need for ongoing repentance. Thanks especially to Pastor Brett and April Friesen for leading us in that time. Before I leave this week on Saturday, the Elders will be meeting for their regular meeting on Friday evening. Please pray for them as they work with me to provide general oversite of the church’s ministry development. Right now, they are working with me to plan and monitor progress in the transition process. You will hear more about all of this at the AGM on Sunday, March 12th which will also include a potluck lunch after the worship service. Please bring a main dish for the potluck and the church will supply salads and desserts. Speaking of the elders, this Sunday, one of them, Ben Dyck, will be speaking in the 10:30 worship service. In a message entitled, No Time to Languish, based on Haggai 1:1-14, the thrust of his message is to stimulate our hearts and minds to renew our walk with Jesus. Marty Senneker and team will lead in worship, and once again, children will have the opportunity to attend Kids Worship during the message part of the Service. I’ll be working from home over the next couple of weeks, but the church will be in my thoughts and prayers as you seek to know God, grow to be like Jesus, and go to make disciples. Have a really good weekend, wherever this finds you, and maybe I’ll see you on-line this Sunday! Pastor Ed |
