A Note from Pastor Brett
At the time of writing this we still have not heard from our pastoral candidate on his decision to accept the call to Taber EFC. I appreciate both the church and Brad’s diligence in praying through this important decision. As I have reflected on it more, it makes me think about the goodness of God, that he is good, that he if faithful in all things. In all of our lives we want things like our health, to get married to a certain person, children, a good paying job, and much, much more, and some of those wants are totally ok. But what if God doesn’t give us what we want? What if he has different plans than you do? Is he still good? Is he still faithful? I was reading psalm 23 the other day, and it reminded me that a life fully surrendered to Jesus is a life of “I shall not want” because He sustains me in every way. Does that mean we can never want good things? Of course we can, but this psalm is also a reminder that when things don’t go the way we see them going, he is present and walking with us, and as we remain in him “Surely his goodness and love will follow me all the days of my life” As I mentioned at the time of writing this, I don’t know where we are in regard to Brad coming or not, I am hopeful, but I am also deeply confident in God’s faithfulness to TEFC. I think there is something in this for each of us far beyond waiting for Brad’s answer. The past couple weeks I have been deeply blessed and encouraged as I meet with ministry teams and team leaders. Though there is still work to do, and we can always see areas to improve, we really have some incredible people serving in so many ways in the church. It’s great to see the heart, dedication, and willingness in so many. If you see a ministry leader, a life group leader or someone serving, take a second this week and thank them for their servanthood! This week we are in Romans 5:1-11 and Ron Gartly will be preaching, Mat Reed will lead the service in worship, and Pastor Brett will host. We are looking forward to seeing you all and worshipping together. |
Praise & Prayer Requests
Praise God that the lady who owns the house where Rob and Leslee's church (Casa de Mi Padre) currently meets, is willing to discuss the possibility of them continuing to meet there! Please pray she follows through with this conversation and is willing to accomodate them. Please continue to pray for the influence of the Nicaraguan government over the people of Nicaragua, and also the ministries that Rob and Leslee serve in. The government makes it very difficult to do ministry well, requiring them to jump through "many hoops" for unnecessary things. Pray that their work for the Kingdom is able to continue in the midst of these circumstances, and that God would provide strength and wisdom where He knows they need it. |
New Books in the Library
Over the past year there have been many new (to us) additions to our Library in both fiction and non-fiction sections. Please be sure to check it out! Also, we would like to purchase new books for the Junior Fiction section. If you are a young reader or the parent of a young reader, please let Joleen Lievaart know what kind of books you'd like to see added to our collection. |
